A Washington, DC Metro authority police officer, Nicholas Young a 36 year old and a 12-year veteran of the DC Metro authority was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with providing material support to the Islamic State according to two law enforcement officials.
Nicholas Young was arrested by the FBI following a year of investigation. He is the first police officer charged in the United States arrested and charged with supporting ISIS.

Officials claimed that although he was sending money over seas to support ISIS financially there was no known threat to the DC Metro System.
Just a week ago a bomb threat forced an evacuation of the DC’s Union Station after a suspicious package was found. The all clear call was later given but this raises questions if someone supporting ISIS was inside the DC metro. This scenario could become real very fast having an insider source with all the knowledge of the subway rail-way systems. Union station is an Amtrak train station.
DC transit has also suffered power outages for quite sometime now although this has been attributed to repair work according to officials. What if the power went out and a terrorist attack followed? DC residents are so used to the power outages they would never know an attack was happening.

It’s also note worthy that three students at George Mason University in Fairfax County, Virginia outside of Washington DC were arrested for bomb making materials in march.
George Mason University has had a notable uptick in radical activity. In July 2015, 17-year-old Ali Shukri Amin pled guilty to conspiring to provide material support to terrorist when he helped recruit one of his peers to go to Syria.
AP reported that “police found a leafy green substance, match books, shaved match heads, a mortar and pedestal, lighter fluid, hand sanitizer candles and a PVC pipe.” inside the teens dorm room which could be used for making fire bombs and general explosives.
Even a report issued by the University themselves identifies Virginia as a hot spot for recruiting efforts by ISIS.
