Man-Made Flood: Louisiana Mayor Plans Lawsuit Against State, Federal Government

We Are Change

Mayor Rick Ramsey of Walker, Louisiana has claimed the recent flood in his state was “man-made.”

No it wasn’t HAARP – it was negligence on the part of the state and federal government according to Mayor Ramsey, who talked to local CBS affiliate WAFB.Lousiananflood

“I’ve been begging them for three-and-a-half years to give us more drainage under the interstate,” Mayor Ramsey said.

According to Ramsey, there was no drainage under the interstate and he’s been begging for three and a half years for the governments to fix it. The governments’ refusal to listen and provide the drainage caused the flooding according to Ramsey.

A six-foot tall concrete barrier that was put along I-12 when the interstate was expanded last year essentially put the city of Walker “into a bowl,” said Ramsey. “When the Amite River went up, it hit that wall. We have video evidence that shows the concrete barrier and water lapping over the north shore of the interstate and bone dry on the south of the interstate. They basically built a dam for Walker.”

When asked if a lawsuit would go anywhere, he expressed that the State of Louisiana was broke and that the federal government doesn’t respond to lawsuits.

“My guess is before it’s over there will be multiple insurance companies involved in this too, because they are going to be paying out billions of dollars in flood insurance claims to those fortunate enough to have flood insurance. But once they see the evidence and realize the flooding event was man made they will be joining,” said Ramsey.

“I think it’s 100% negligent. I don’t think there’s any doubt. I can give you an example of a house that was built in ’79 that got no water in the ’83 flood when they peaked it at the same level and got 6 ft of water this trip it was my house.”

Ramsey also stated that 75% of Walker was flooded by this tragedy.

“I have a report and it appears there is evidence that DOTD removed 1-2 barricades early Sunday morning when our water dropped 3 FT and then put the barricades back in place and if that can be confirmed that means they were aware of the problem but didn’t fix it.”
